Welcome to my site.  If you’re looking for beautiful hand – crafted personalised candles you’ve come to the right place!   I love candles – the symbolism, the texture, the scent,…. the whole experience and I hope after having a look at some of my work you may understand why.

Whatever the celebration or occasion I can create beautiful and distinctive personalised candledesigns.  Each candle is individually hand engraved and painted to order, whether it be Christening,Naming ceremony, Wedding, Birthday, Graduation, Ordination, Jubilee, Retirement, Memorial……whatever you wish.   All commissions considered.

I live a few miles outside Carlow town, Ireland.  A “blow-in” from Dublin in 1999, but originally from the once small village of Mullagh in Co Cavan.  In a previous life I was a nurse, but always with an interest in arts and crafts – now with 4 children nursing experience is useful, but thankfully not often called upon.  My interest in arts and crafts still persists and while I primarily use it for my candles, I have also in my time designed cards, wall hangings, wedding invitations, and even personalised wine bottle labels, not to mention helping out with personalised gifts for my children’s many teachers along the way!

My craft and business –  Candledesigns was born on the Christening day of my eldest daughter Etain in 1994.  A household candle was transformed by engraving and painting her name and the date.  A year later we were joined by her sister Sorcha who was the recipient of my second ever personalised candle.  A short time later the third followed when my sister in law asked me to engrave a personalised candle for her daughter Ruth.  The idea has gradually snowballed from there, and since then I have created numerous personalised candles – not just for Christenings, but Weddings, Anniversaries, Corporate occasions, Ordinations, Jubilees, Memorials and even four 6ft Millennium Candles!!……
